Tizen 2.3 Firmware für RD-PQ Tizen Reference Device
Yesterday, Samsung has released a firmware, the developer of a Reference Tizen device finally provides the opportunity to test their apps with Tizen 2.3.
The firmware (also known as M0 or TRATS2) for the RD-PQ I installed myself tonight. I have discovered the firmware by chance, when it became known that the Source code to Tizen 2.3 was published. Then I thought, let's see what the Release folder on the server to download hergibt and lo and behold, there is a subfolder with “2.3”.

Tizen SDK 2.3b ohne OSP Framework
For a little excitement among the Tizen developers just makes the finding that Samsung has probably decided to remove the OSP framework from the current Tizen SDK 2.3b. OSP is the native application framework that was used for the bada smartphones. Tizen SDK for TV appeared in Beta
Yesterday, Samsung has released another Tizen SDK. After the Tizen SDK (InVehicle, smartphones) and the Tizen SDK for wearables (Wearables) now follows the Tizen-based Samsung TV SDK.
As the name suggests, the SDK for writing applications for TV sets is determined. The applications are written like with the Tizen SDK for wearables in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS. Support for C is not currently available. The SDK runs under Windows as well as Mac OS and Linux and are either 32bit or 64bit it.
In the first beta of the SDK also a web simulator and debugger are included in addition to the IDE.

Samsung launches Gear App Challenge
For the recently published Smart Watches on Tizen-based Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo Samsung launches a lucrative App Challenge shortly. Total prize money $ 1,250,000, is a hefty sum.
The Challenge expected to commence on 08.05.2014, there are over the length and conditions of participation currently no information. In addition, Samsung held in May various Samsung Developer Events, vorangig in Asia. To find events in Korea (24./25.5.), Singapore (5.4.), Malaysia (15.4.), USA (during the TDC) and Brazil (9./10.5.) Instead. Even an event for Russia seems planned, is currently not yet terminated. Other countries are still to be added. The visit of such an event is, however, not be a prerequisite for the challenge, but can be helpful.

How to use Nokia HERE Maps for Tizen Apps
Since late last year Nokia offers a Tizen SDK for its maps service HERE . Unfortunately there currently is no documentation available so you have to experiment a bit in order to use it. If you have developed bada Apps with NAVTEQ maps, you have a slight advantage, because the Tizen HERE SDK builds very heavily on it and probably is a direct descendant of it. Continue reading
